Forgiveness Counseling

Forgiveness is both delicate and strong. It can renew and re-energize everything, rewriting past, present, and future. In this sense, it is transformative. Forgiveness isn’t a one time act. It is an unfolding process, making use of, and allowing, new perception.

There are moments when forgiveness is not timely. If another person is acting in abusive, threatening or damaging ways, generally speaking, it isn’t a time to forgive. It may instead be a time to leave and/or resist a situation. And in such a case, forgiveness of another may have to wait for different time…

Forgiveness is first and foremost a release mechanism. Feeling forgiveness, for self or another, can help a person let go of what has happened. It causes the release of pain embedded in a memory, while allowing a person to keep the memory itself. Forgiveness is healing… first and foremost for the person doing the forgiving.

Forgiveness is a totally free medicine, self-choosen, self-enacted, and self-restorative. An added bonus is that others may experience healing as well.
